Background & Recording

The concept of Lonely Beat Of My Heart was conceived by The Bruders member Roshaan Mirnia from 2019 to 2024. The concept is based on personal experience. The story of the album takes place in the late 80's and that can be heard in the sound too. the sound is reminisced of 1980's pop rock music. Roshaan modeled the main character of the story after himself. A lot of the concept came into fruition after Roshaan himself experienced a very turbulent relationship from June 2024 to August 2024 which inspired him to alter some lyrics in already written songs and to add some new songs to his concept. Those songs being "If This Means Anything", both parts of "(Will I Be) Left To Walk Alone", "How Can I Go On?", "It's Over", "(Another) Long Lonely Night" and the title track "Lonely Beat Of My Heart". With some fine tuning and the help of Jesse the concept was ready.

The album was mainly recorded in Ottawa, Ontario due to Roshaan being the lead singer and instrumentalist. Track 3's acoustic guitar and all of Jesse van Olderen's lead vocals were recorded in Utrecht, Utrecht. The album was recorded using Dolby On, giving the album a timeless sound. the album features many instruments yet the most prominent is Roshaan's 1998 acoustic guitar that his father used before him. It can be heard on 11 of the 14 tracks.

The title track of the album is a duet between the two main characters Alice (Playing Girl) and Roshaan (Playing Guy). The Bruders needed someone for the song, Roshaan asked Alice who is a friend of his to play the lead character on the concept album and she happily agreed. She recorded all the interludes and recorded vocals for the title track, she also plays keyboards on the title track.

Title

The title "Lonely Beat Of My Heart" was inspired by Toto's Steve Lukather, who released an album in 1989 called "Lukather" with a single called "Lonely Beat Of My Heart". Roshaan, a big Toto fan thought the title fit his concept really well and decided to use it.

Concept

"Lonely Beat Of My Heart" explores a failing relationship. It starts out with the couple happy and in love, but it ends in heartbreak. Attempts to win her back and gain understanding fail. Roshaan said about the album "..Sometimes in life you have to realize that getting closure isn't something the other person always wants to offer, I learned the hard way, even those who say to value communication the most can ignore it when it's needed most". After things fall apart the main characters communicate by using voicemails. The album explores acceptance towards the end with the Guy learning to move on by the time "It's Over" and "Tonight I'm Forgetting You" roll around, conversions with his Friend played by Jesse also help him realize it's not the end of the world. His progress towards moving on is shown when the Guy decides to rip up the letter given to him by the Girl. The concept of exploring old memories also is shown in the aptly named "Memories of You". However the album ends with a loop, the sound of a phone tone, which leads back into "When You're Near" which suggests the Guy never learns from his mistakes. Roshaan says of the ending "The ending? well it's open to interpretation, the album doesn't have one defined ending. I was inspired to make it a loop because of Pink Floyd's concept album The Wall".
